Proclaimed by NPR as one of the “purest contemporary voices,” Amikaeyla is a dynamic speaker/performer, educator, and author whose work transcends boundaries to inspire transformation and healing. A Cultural Arts Ambassador for the U.S. State Department, she travels the globe bringing people together through her powerful blend of music, storytelling, and activism. Founder of the International Cultural Arts and Healing Sciences Institute (ICAHSI) and Executive Director of World Trust, she champions restorative justice and cultural competency to create meaningful change. With over 25 years of experience in the Behavioral Health field, Amikaeyla has dedicated her career to uniting artists and healers from all disciplines to promote wellness through the arts and activism. Working with political refugees, war survivors, and at-risk populations worldwide, She is called in challenging scenarios to provide intercultural literacy guiding communities toward transformative solutions. Her work has been sought after by USAID and UNHCR, taking her to regions such as Israel, Beirut, Palestine, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and beyond. Featured on PBS, HBO, and at the Sundance Film Festival, she is a 12-time WAMMY Award winner for Best Jazz, World, and Urban Contemporary Vocalist and has been recognized with prestigious honors including the United Nations Global Woman Award, the Voss Women Leaders Award, the Pioneer Award for Exemplary Leadership in Social Justice, and the International Hero for Peace and Forgiveness Award. Her lifelong dedication to the healing power of music culminated in a commemorative Golden Buddha Performance at the personal invitation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
